An enchanting evening at a lantern parade

I was lucky to be invited to the Lantern Parade marking the grand opening of part of Atlanta’s new beltline.  The Krewe of the Grateful Gluttons organized this welcoming community event.  Anyone and everyone was encouraged to bring a paper lantern, or join a workshop to make one from scratch.  The grand plan was simply to meet on Irwin Street near Inman Park, and follow the Seed and Feed marching band up the 2-mile stretch of completed beltline path, once the sun went down.  400 people were expected to show up, and over 1000 did!  I did not even have a lantern, but I marched along the path, enjoying the music and the magical beauty of all the lights and colors.  It was truly exhilarating to be in the midst of  a community coming together with joy.  Another one is planned for Grant Park on October 27th.  If you can make it, you won’t regret it.  Your qi will thank you, too.
