Ancient Chinese medicine could boost cancer therapy

The Chinese formula Huang Qin Tang is used to treat upset stomachs and nausea. Huang Qin Tang alongside irinotecan administered to mice with colon cancer was found to restore gut cells, which normally die off in response to irinotecan alone. Huang Qin Tang also caused the mice to experienced less toxicity, less weight loss and more anti-tumour activity than controls that were given irinotecan alone.
