Curcumin Adjunct Therapy in Patients with Breast Cancer

Researchers investigated the effectiveness and tolerance of the combination of docetaxel (chemotherapy medication) and curcumin in patients with advanced and metastatic breast cancer. At the end of the study, researchers found that 6,000 mg daily for seven consecutive days every 3 weeks in combination with a standard dose of docetaxel was the most effective and best tolerated treatment. With such encouraging results of the effectiveness of the treatment, researchers suggested a comparative phase II trial to be conducted using curcumin plus docetaxel versus docetaxel alone in advanced and metastic breast cancer patients.1
